The purpose of this site is a guide to help you maintain and repair your home. A home is one of the largest investments a person will ever make in their lifetime. This site can help you determine what and when work and maintenance needs to be completed. It will also help you repair those items that typically can be repaired easily. You may choose to do the work yourself or call a trade professional. Either way, it will provided you with information and procedures for routine maintenance and repairs.
I hope you use the site to tackle the work yourself. For many jobs, doing it yourself will be much easier and much more cost effective than hiring a trade professional. An added benefit is the sense of self satisfaction of completing the work yourself. If the work is too complex for you, or you do not have the tools or confidence to complete the work, the information contained in the manual will serve as a guide for you as you observe and inspect the completed work. It will also provide you with a list of questions to ask the trade professional before the work begins.
Illustrations and photographs will be included to help guide you. The illustrations and photographs may not depict your exact situation, material, brand, or product. When it is necessary to refer to the same procedure again in a later section, reference will be given as to the section.
Even though I have constructed this site with care, neither the publisher nor the author can accept responsibility for any errors in, or omissions from, the information given. Not every situation is the same. The procedures and examples given are those that have worked for me based on my 25 plus years in the construction business.
